I didn't read it but it was written by a spokesman for Gilead so factor that in when reading it....

No matter how I read it or where I read it, I keep coming back to the conclusion that being geno 1a, TT, fibrosis 2-3 in my transplanted liver 6 months ago (may be higher now), that my chances of clearing this virus is the highest if I do 12 weeks of Sofosbuvir/Interferon/Riba. If I keep waiting, since my fibrosis is moving so fast because of transplant, I may have less of a chance of clearing the virus months down the road, without interferon.
I've asked this before, but I'm asking again: Do any of you who have taken interferon feel that going through 12 weeks of it is bearable??

No pertinence unless anyone plans to treat with Interferon or Riba, as I see it.

Using PubMed and search terms sofosbuvir, emerging HCV treatment, and HCV polymerase inhibitor, literature on the clinical development of sofosbuvir, as well as abstracts presented at the November 2013 annual meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), was reviewed. The last search was undertaken on 15 November 2014.

I believe bagolady did 12 weeks sofosbuvir/riba/interferon. I may be wrong but that's what I think. Check w/her. I don't think it was a walk in the park but if your doctors' recommend it I think you should seriously consider it.

As always Marilyn, no one can predict the level of severity in individuals. I wish they could, could have. Sorry.

Marilyn, the truth is her experience might not be your experience but I can assure you you will have so much support here and 12 weeks go by quickly. I know you have an excellent team of doctors. I'd seriously consider their advice.

By not making any decision you are in fact making a decision not to treat.

It must be really rough being in your shoes...I wish you the best in whatever you chose.

Marilyn: I for one, did not mind Interferon to much at all. My platelets were at 120(000) when I began my 28 wk Triple Tx, and I had a FibroSure test that had me at a score of 77, which is well into the cirrhotic catagory, but my biopsy had me at stage 2, grade 3, so I knew it was good to move fast.
Although I am aware that Interferon is hard on the liver, my platelets actually held quite well, they hung out at around 90,000 for the first 20 wks, but by 28 weeks, they had slipped down to 66,000, but then my Tx was over, and I had normal platelets again, at my 6 month post labs!
Okay: the Interferon caused me to have arthritic type pain in my hips joints, during and after the Tx, but 12 weeks Interferon is very much preferable to the 28 weeks I did, because as you can see, my platelets held up well, for the first 12 weeks, definitely.
I think you are right, that the Solvaldi, Riba and 12 wks of Inf are definitely doable.

Mmmm12 shots equals 3 boxes of peg. 1 shot a week.

Marilyn, I don't have cirrhosis but been living with HCV for 30 yrs & I did 48 wks of IFN/riba. When that failed I did 9 wks of triple therapy with IFN/riba & incivek. Had severe anemia both times & needed rescue meds of neupogen plus close monitoring by my docs to manage sides. If IFN worked on me I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Just saying I think 12 wks with Solvadi & riba is worth the shot after all you've been through already. I'd rely heavily on what's happening to your body & follow doctors recommendations. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Marilyn, 12 weeks is much shorter than the 48 weeks that I did, but it's still a long time to feel lousy. It really all depends on your personal tolerance for the drugs.

I guess I would make a list of the pros and cons, then decide. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you have a lot of options right now.
