Daytaker... Yes, brainfog can be a problem for some people while on treatment but not for everyone. No one can predict who will and who won't have certain side effects.

I see that you're a firefighter. Are you in a position where you are a Captn or Shift Commander so that you have to make the decisions at a fire scene? Or are you in a position that is mostly desk work?

I'm in week 39 of my 48 week treatment and I'm still working full time (I have a desk job). There have been days that I'm not as sharp which I assume was brain fog, but I usually was able to get over that feeling by drinking a bottle of Boost (a nutritional supplement drink like Ensure) that has protein in it and vitamins.

Anytime we roll I'm the one that makes all the decisions for my crew. I was a Asst. Chief till the county took us out of the action and I requested to be put back on a truck, Now I'm a Captain on a Engine and Rescue crew. I work at the busy Station in the county we average 2800 calls a year. I ran 632 calls last year.

That's a busy station.

Are you scheduled for 24 weeks of TX or 48 weeks?

The biggest issue I see for you (from my perspective) is how your shifts run. If you're FD works anything like my hubby's did, he worked one day on and two days off. So, if your schedule is anything like that, you might have some difficulty deciding on a shot day.

Most people who work, try to take their shots on the night before they have a few days off so that they can recover from most of the potential side effects before heading back to work. Since your work schedule might rotate, you might not necessarily have the same two days off each week.

Ya, you're going to have to hands full since you don't seem a have any margin for having a bad day or?

I was a blding manager for USDA which was also a high energy position with little room for screw ups.

I ended up taking a disability retirement but I have advanced liver disease in addition to the Hep. I had a accumulated almost a year of sick leave that I used before retiring. I don't know if that is an option you could keep in you back pocket or not.
