Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
The other night I was reading one of my new books on hep c, since the others were getting old, and out of date, and read this very logical, but sad fact that affects, everyone with hep c.
Apparently ones who goes to get their vaccines for hep A & B, you viral load will spike up.
That's not it, those who have the flu shot the same, any vaccine that affects the immune system, will spike up your viral load.
So if someone had a higher viral load than usual lately, ask yourself, he you had somekind of other shot that would affect your immune system, those 3 mentionned are the worst, and most often done.
Days later, after reading this in my book, it was on a news bulletin I get monthly.
Remember those who still need to be immunized for hep A & B, should have it done before tx, never while on tx.
Like the flu shot, the dose is affected by the interferon, and will not work as usual, due to the interferon interference, and will get your viral load to spike up.

I was vaccinated for hep b when I was 8 b/c my dad had it and cleared it naturally, actually.
And then hep a I don't have, and don't risk..
Oops on my part for the flu shot, but it scares me anyway...
SOOOO very useful and good info, especially for everyone here...on tx, starting it, gathering info as just diagnosed or some other situation...

I was vaccinated for hep B right before starting treatment, and the second shot in the series, i believe will be right after I am done with the 24wks.

Please Note: I am not advising you against getting such vaccinations, just warning you of waht usually happens.
I will type the whole article in the book I took the info from, and then print it and make your doctor read it, he will see the logic into it, but don't tell him it's from a message board, cause they are against patients knowing more than they do, if you know what I mean.
For all those who has asked me; "why did your viral load spike up" well this could be the answer.
There is still very little information "out there" about what may negatively affect the viral load.
But I have years of experience speaking with people infected with HVC, reviewing their lab results and drawing correlations between their viral loads and related events.
And I can tell you that vaccines, certain pharmaceuticals and even medical and dental procedures do negatively affect viral load.
The correlation between vaccines and an increased viral load is so strong, in fact, that I should warn you: Your hepatitis C viral load will most likely triple and may even go up by tens of millions if you get the hepatitis A ands B vaccines, the flu vaccine or any vaccine that puts a load on the immune system.
Please note: I am not advising you against getting such vaccinations, just warning you of what usually happens.
So for those who has asked me why their viral load went up, it could be due to a shot you have receive that will put a load on your immune system.
the doc said that it would be much much harder on my liver were i to get hep a or b at this point so he recommended getting the vaccine now.
i don't know if it made my viral load spike or not? but i was undectable at 4 weeks?
just thought i'd let ya know what happened to me.
