I'm so sorry you have to go through these unpleasant effects. The lack of information leads one to believe that the side effects are negligible, when in fact they can be life threatening.

I'm willing to take risks, I just like to be as informed and aware of the what I'm getting into as possible.

One of the questions my Pharmacologist asked me in my first assessment was about my heart rate- I didn't even know rapid heart rate was a potential side effect.

They do push to get these things to market. In another year or so, the real risks and side effect profiles of these new drugs will be better known.

Very sorry for your experience DRTJC. I have a friend who also had a terrible time on it and had to quit. I have other HCV friends who did very well on it with minimal to no sides and are virus free now.
Unlike my nightmare with Interferon, S&O was a breeze for me and I am SVR 12.Just goes to show that there is no such thing as "one size fits all".
Hope you start to recover soon!

I do hope DRTJC that you are getting better ...one day at a time...and the worse is over...please keep sharing your emotions and recovery..it not here....somewhere with some one ...like you said " do not do this alone" God Bless you and pray ...keep in faith, if you go that way ...I will pray too... I too have alot of these symptoms and still tx naive...

I do thank you too DRTJC as they said they may offer me something else if Ins . doesn't approve Harvoni....and I am alone and but one...never thought of that since the offer of Interferon years ago....when it was 40% cure rate..

hey guys, hope everyone is well, Drtj sorry to hear what you are going thru I also have been getting alot of lower back pains and some depression as well as other minor issues but I thought that when the docs checked my labs that whatever was seriously wrong would show up? am I correct in this assumption? now you got me thinking? I finished my 12 wk tx of S/O and Riva on Aug,4th for the first 2and half months after tx I felt sicker than even before tx and for an added bonus was terribly depressed and lets not even talk about the anxiety but thankfully for about 3wks have been feeling much much better and I pray that I, that we all continue on this journey to well being.. blessings and I pray that you getter better asap. xoxoxo

That which--I wonder why they asked about your heart rate when it doesn't say anything aobut that in the prescribing info? How did the pharmacist know about heart sides of harvoni that was not in the info? ?

@ Penn - no clue. Might be a 'control' question- a random Q that has nothing to do with actual side effects. I have not had that problem, thankfully.

@ Penn: I did find this online: Harvoni has this in it, I believe.

I asked a nurse about the side effects and she said since Sovaldi must be used with another drug, in this case it was riba or interferon, those side effests are listed. Rapid heart rate is what people have when they are on Riba and have anemia.

She said to look only at side effects of Harvoni drug.

Ribavirin has its own list of side effects separate and, in some cases, different from Sovaldi.

I've had chills, flushes, side aches and skin ulcers, which are common & known Sovaldi side effects and they are not listed in my Harvoni literature. Just sayin'.
