Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I havent been here in months and months, but wanted to post my good news: I found out 2 days beofre Valentines Day that I have achieved SVR.
I wnet into Treatment after having Hep C for 20 yrs, but a year and a half ago, my platelets slipped to 120...not good!
I treated with Victrelis for 28 weeks, I was Und at week 4, anemic by week 7, and ended Tx with my hgb at 8.8.
By 3 months post tx, my hgb was at 13.2 and at 6 months post tx, my hgb was at 14.2, and I feel gret. I am also happy to report that my platelets are now back to normal!!! I can go on with my regular ol life now~
