Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
This Thursday I will start the 24 Week Harvoni treatment. Other than stopping the Hep C I am hoping to clear up some other nagging issues that have been persisting for months and years.
For the last five years I have been dealing with numbness and burning in my feet. It's been a constant concern but I have learned to deal with it as there is really nothing else that can be done. The second issue is the Lichen Plannus that developed over this past summer. Both are more common in people with Hep C so maybe there is hope.
I will continue to check in from time to time to let everyone know if it's working. In the meantime I'll fight on by doing what I always do. No sense changing lifes goals.

Day 30 under my belt...a walk in the park but feet ache too!
And I also have peripheral neuropathy in my feet as the result of chemo therapy I had four years ago; I was told it usually goes away when chemo is over but mine didn't go away. I didn't know it was also associated with HCV. You learn something new every day...
I will check in here from time to time as well, to let every know the effects the Harvoni has on me. So far , I feel great and have no side effects.
