Now i have a lot more respect and understanding. And the early 2000 the standard length of 72 weeks? Oh. I cant even image those guys after the Tx . To swallow so much harmful medication.
And es i have read it in some articles the rules are getting rewritten "as we go" . Many of those early decisions were only shot in the dark. Statistics were playing the major reference rolls in the game.Even the dosing, as we came to a single shot per week of Interferon, and the 1200mg of Ribavirin per day.
Bot the funny part is the Ribavirin reduction game. As the difficulties arrives, like the low red call counts , rather Procrit injection Dr's started reducing the dosage, we know big guys whom got reduced to 200mg per day. And the person is SVR up to date. The articles are all over the net now how Ribavirin dose reduction does not effect the outcome of the treatment.
So all this short little time, we were the guinea pigs, many of us in different length, whom provided some sort comfort the one who was fallowing beyond. And for some time even the newer generation of pills are still relying on Ribavirin, or similar product named differently. Yeah the search for the best available treatment comes from a long way, and hopefully for some time from now this grueling treatment comes to en end.
If we look at how many families got thorned apart, the divorces , the unintended casualties makes the whole thing even darker. Even the nicest person can become a monster, and unbearable for their loved ones. even as we don't see it, feel it on the treatment. But the clear indication of our issues is played out right here we all remember the fights,,,The bee hive as i use to call it.
They were the days probably will never for get , the best part is all the friendships we created, and of course the never ending memories.
I was a huge cry-baby my first 4 weeks of Tx, and I remember I used to go to this one Diner for breakfast, near my house, and I would always cry while waiting for my eggs, just at anything I read in the newspaper. A song on the radio would make me weep, and any t.v. copmmercial woul do it!
At 4 weeks I went Und, so Iknew that upped my ante greatly, for being SVR, so lots of the tear-jags ended there. Maybe I was in mourning, for losing my old friend and "partner in crime": Hep C!
I have been teary again this week though, and I am what, 26 months post Tx? I also have a feeling, like a mouse running on one of those wheels, and I feel like I dont step off until I drop into bed at 11 pm, exhausted!
How do I feel now? Kind of over-whelmed by some of my responsibilities a bit, and also when I awake in the morning, I have such a sadness shrouding over me, it's like a fog. I have to shake it; I jump on my bike, and go hang-out with my goofy friends, drinking cappucino, taking a puff of some herb. But by Noon I am off to work, and dont stop until 11 pm. Still all in all, I have such a blessed life
