Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
my doc did not tell me yet which organ she has ordered the CT scan for , but my liver enzymes are up now and I'm in pain across my entire upper abdomen. So she ordered an ultrasound and then when she saw the results, ordered the CT scan ; mind you I have no idea yet what all was on the ultrasound.
bottom line; I feel like crap anyway, in pain/discomfort bloated horribly and gained back all the weight I lost in the past year. :-(
am now getting nervous about the scan tomorrow but especially the barium drink I am going to have to drink tonight and tomorrow morning.
(besides being disgusting tasting) I am concerned about the likely GI problems/side effects i will have from it.
anyone been through that and can share with me how it is/was??

They had me drink the barium and then wait about 2 hrs (maybe 90 minutes) for it to circulate, then did the CAT scan
You'd never ever order a barium drink in a restaurant, but when you're in pain, or you need the scan results, it's just another inconvenience
The scan itself is totally painless. They might put an IV in so that 1/2 thru they can add some contrast fluid, but it's nothing to worry about. It's not even like an MRI where you're in a tube with a pounding noise
I hope everything gets figured out & fixed.
But no long lasting stuff to follow you around.
