Has any one been offered, or done tx without the Rib.

i met a couple people whose livers couldn't hack the treatment so they were on interferon alone for a while to boost up their immune systems.

is this what you're talking about?

I guess what I'm asking is, is it possible do Peg. as the only tx or is it only successful when combined with Rib. The reason I ask is that it seams that almost all the bad sides are associated with the Rib.

All of us are different. I have no sides other than weight loss, however, it has affected my blood since the first week. You need the riba to break down your immune system so the interferron will work

thank you for the answers. Helpful as always. I'm meeting with the clinic Oct. 15th and want to know what all my options are. Not doing tx not being one of them.

it's the riba that puts the virus into remission...well, the interferon helps too cause it boost the immune system UP.

i don't know if anybody has had success with 'killing' the virus just by interferon? good question?

doctors/research says that 15% of people who contract hep C get rid of it on their own...they have the antibodies but not the active virus.

I have read and been told one does not work without the other. Infact it was in all the paper work that was sent in my meds

gotta do both. at this point the National Institute of Health and all current research states one does not work without the other. so SOC (standard of care) is both, plus the add-on of a protease inhibitor. none of its pleasant, but I did it, am doing it, and I cleared at week 6. I know so many who have cleared! you can do this!
