Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I'm going to see the doc tomorrow. I've been undetected and off of TX a little while. My anxiety is HIGH. This appointment I'll ask doc to sign 6 more months of disability due to : Needing more Time, to regain mental and physical strength.
I've never shared this before that I remember. I chose to start Interferon because I knew that It would save my liver. I never thought I would need Disability. I loved my job when I became ill. I left two years ago. Since then, I had to leave my home and return my vehicle, as I could no longer afford them on the disability income. I'm not complaining as I've been blessed with a place to live that I CAN afford. I do not have a car as yet, and where I live there is no public transportation. This treatment KICKED MY BUTT. I'm not trying to rush myself into being well enough to work. My heart is in the right place, as I WANT to work again, Soon!!
I pray the doc takes a moment to care about this part of treatment.

This brings up a question for me...a little off-topic, so I apologize. My GI doc. (considered the best in Houston), has a sign in his front office saying that he will not complete disability paperwork; that that has to be done by the primary doctor. I'm not going to do tx, but when I was considering it, this really gave me pause. I mean, why wouldn't he...he would be the one treating me for the malady for which I went on disability?
