Yes, i am surprised myself

Hello,
I'm new here but not new to HCV. I was doing a bit of research on Gilead & new meds just approved & looking into the Solvadi/Ledipasvir combo that should coming soon in order to discuss my 3rd tx plan with my GI & I came across this support site. There is a lot of info. here & knowledgeable people so I hopped aboard. Hopefully these new drugs will finally eradicate HCV.

Hi--I'm new to this group too. I was DX'd back in May '13, genotype 2, grade 2, stage 3, VL about 6.8mil. I'm hoping to start the Sovaldi/Rib treatment this month. I've been reading this group for awhile, and was interested in MWC's blog about the Sovaldi treatment so I joined. But since then, what I thought was a nice, friendly group turned into a great big bunch of long ugly fights and the last time I looked, I can't even read the blog I was interested in any more because of the fights. I'm reconsidering how helpful it is to keep reading here, and might move on before even starting but I'd consider staying if anyone wants to change my mind...

Riverrunner, it's like one big dysfunctional family here. People get mad. People say ugly things. People also tell you what to pack for tx., worry about you when you're MIA, calm your fears... Shall I go on? I found this group the day I was diagnosed. The people here told me about trials, I didn't have insurance. I got a wealth of information and most importantly I got support during tx. Keep in mind some here are on treatment and have bad days, also some people are just jerks. ;)

Welcome to all the new members. Runner, don't run; we're not all bad! Like Bago said, we're like one big dysfunctional family here...much like my own real family. Stay awhile and you'll see that there are peaks and valleys. :-)

This is a great place, really! Arguments, like this recent one, are RARE.

I've been actively with this group for about a year (?) and the support, knowledge, information sharing and experience here got me through a clinical trial and the failure of that trial.

There's a lot of love here. And also fun, music, etc.

Take what you want and need and leave/ignore the rest!

Yes mostly a good bunch of folks here Riverrunner but just like a sunny stroll down the street, you occasionally have to step over the do do ..lol
Look for the good and avoid the bad where you can.
I suggest you give it more than a couple of days.

Welcome here. There is a lot of useful information here, and I could not have made it through treatment without the support of this group. My doctor actually read my test results wrong, and if not for the information in this group I wouldn't have challenged him. As the result, I might have not completed the proper course of meds.

Yes, sometimes people get into arguments or have differences in opinions, but it is actually better than most online forums I've been in.

Most people, including myself, have strong opinions about certain topics. I've found that arguing about them online is rarely productive, so one of my resolutions this year is to avoid commenting in the political or heated threads. We'll see how well I do in that regards, LOL.

This place saved me on tx and I made a lot of friends here and had a lot of fun passing the time. Otherwise I would've totally lost my mind on the tx regimen I was on. There have been some big fights on occasion but mostly lots of fun, support and knowledge. I peeked in the other day and saw that thread and also thought wtf and here we go again. It doesn't last long though. I have my life back after SVR though so it's easy for me to stay away for days or even weeks now but I still come back to socialize a bit. I've also met a few members in person too, which is fun to do as is talking on the phone.

Yeah Bago, I can't believe std of care for 48 wks & triple w/incivek failed me. At least the 2nd time I only had to take the poison for 9 wks. Lost my husband of 34 yrs to this virus back in '08 so I know what can happen when the sleeping dragon awakens. I'm hopeful but trying not to get overly excited about the new meds because the triple therapies were touted as the bomb. I'm happy so many people achieved SVR with those drugs but words fail to describe the downward spiral I had when it failed me. I'm a fighter & an eternal optimist so I've picked myself up & am getting ready to rejoin the battle with a little help from my friends.

This place and many of the ppl still here saved my life!! Was dx'd in 1998 but contracted Hep in abt 1971. Until I came here, a little over 3 yrs ago, I was totally opposed to Tx. I learned so much, decided to pursue Tx, caught a very lucky break and got in an Abbott, all Oral Phase II trial, Undie in less than one wk of starting Trial meds, did 12 wk Tx, and have been SVR for 2 and 1/2 yrs now. Please stick around. There are great ppl here. I've been away for awhile but plan to stay in touch to pass along any support and info I have.

Am I still considered new?

allaboutliving - was interferon treatment ever rated at 85-100% cure rates as the new tx's are??? Glad you're ready to fight again and hope it works this time out... and we WILL all be here to support ya' ................i also failed tx, but just w/riba, no Interferon.

I was shocked to see all the "new "members on the main members page. People who never even checked in i here ,guess they are just readers. Welcome everyone, say hello..and ask what ever comes to mind...
