Don't know enough about your situation to give specific suggestions - that said, if you're considering a trial find out what phase. Phase 3 preferred, and will you get the drugs or placebo?
However, with interferon being eliminated in newer combos, perhaps you could wait - -if its safe & your dr agrees?

There are lots of different trials going on right now, but they should be able to tell you what drugs may be offered, what stage the trials are, etc.

Did you start tx on the 10th? Who is sponsoring the clinical trial? Do you know if it's Gilead, BMS, Abbve, J&J, Other? I understand IFN/riba but do you know the name(s) or numbers of the other drugs? Are you tx nave or non-responder. Need to know your genotype & liver condition as well. Lots of treatments in development & a few newly approved. Rapid changes so without a few more details don't have a lot of helpful suggestions but curious about your clinical trial.

OK thanks ..you guys have given me some good questions to ask!!! thanks I am ttreatment naive and all I know is I have geno 3 and Cirohsis not sure of the stages yet I know the treatment is two of the new drugs + interferon and the other 2 choices are a combination of new drugs without interferon I am new to all this treatment so havent known what to ask or find out .I know my ALT AST GGT are all around normal levels but platelet count varies from 45-60 (Canadian )my leucocytes are 1.2 (low) and my neutrefils are low too ,I have Varices in the eosophagus stage 2 .. I will ask more questions now about all the things you have mentioned ...I def dont want a placebo !!!so sorry i dont know much will change now lolol thasnks guys !! will keep you updated .and NO the dr doesnt want me to wait any longer so I guess i have to weigh out the options

oh and these drugs are already approved in Canada but only for geno 1 this trial is to see how they work on geno3

Silly me.............kinda figured but i can be a little dense at times....

well the trial has been cancelled . it was solvaldi and ribavarin ....I havew geno3a and my viral load is 1,475.987.I think thats what she said ...my liver is cirrohtic but up here they call it compensated as it is working mostly normally... I only have stage 2 varices all liver enzyme levels normal ....So the doc suggested I start the old treatment (which is covered)for 4 weeks then see if i respond if not to quit and wait ...or he said I can wait as all the newest drugs are conentrating on geno 3 as it is not proving to be easy to get rid of !!!...its almost as stubborn as geno 1 and hides then sneaks back later .
Biggest problem will be platelets soo low and immune system down ..low white counts also have had bad depression about 10 yrs ago ...dont want to go thru that again !!! any advice ..suggestions you guys have been there and back it seems ..could it be worth the wait ??? or take it by the horns now !!!

Yes, 3a is stubborn & difficult to tx. I'm not as familiar with the drugs in development for geno 3a so don't know what timeline you are looking at for better options. Based on your compensated condition I think I'd do tx now avoiding IFN even though it cuts tx time in half if you are IFN eligible. Current guidelines are Solvadi with weight based riba for 24 wks & the recommended alternative is Solvadi with weight based riba & IFN for 12 wks if you are eligible for IFN according to HCVguidelines.org

NOT Recommended for geno 3a:
PEG/RBV without Solvadi for 24 to 48 weeks
Monotherapy with PEG, RBV, or a DAA
Telaprevir (Incivek), boceprevir-, or simeprevir (Olysio)-based regimens

well the trial was with Gilead and was Sovaldi and Riba but its full ....I Have geno 3a viral load 1.35 million and stage 4 cirrohsis but it is compensated at the moment ..varices moderate ,blood counts crappy .platelets 40, leucocytes1.2, and neutrophils extremely low a......lol In my favour my ALT GGT AST are all (barely) within range of normal so

Tomorrow at 2pm I start Pegasys Peg int and riba I am praying I can beat this and my heart, ,thyroid, and anaemia dont ruin it I guess tomorrow I start my fight with the dragon !!!!!!! I have learnedfrom you guys ..drink water ,vitamin cand dont give up lol As Im going to be 60 next year I think its time to fight .....any one with me no good wishing for thew new drugs ...will take till 2015 possibly to get coverage for people like me with no private ins good luck to all fighting ..I pray we can do this ...all of us !!!!
