Hello everyone and thanks for being here. I am a 63 year old femaie and to date feel fine. For the past 25 years I have been for check-ups at about 5 various family physicians. Twenty five years ago when this issue first arose, i got lab results with elevated liver enzymes. The dr. tested me for Hep A, B and C. All were Negative. Over the years I got lab results that either indicated normal liver enzymes or elevated. My last physician finally agreed to do further tests only because I expressed concerns about the varying enzyme levels over time. She ordered a sonogram and the results indicated Fatty Liver Disease.
I have a new fantastic internist as my dr. I had blood work for the past year with him, and he corrected a thyroid problem I had. In the past 2 months I went on a strict high protein diet with alot of exercise to help me loose some weiight-lost 8 pounds-feeling super energetic.I I am 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighted 155 -now down to 146)
So instead of good results-my cholesterol is not in the very normal range-but again one of my liver enzymes was elevated.
Additional history-I have not used any IV drugs, no trasfusions-but did have electrolysis about 30 years ago.
At any rate, my dr. ordered my blood tested for Hep C.
I asked his gut feeling and he said "fatty liver disease", but he wanted to check.
(Sorry this is so long winded)
Questions: If I had Hep C for 25 years would i have any symptoms of feeling ill at all?
-Has anyone had a sonogram that indicated fatty liver disease and had Hep C?
-If it is Hep C, what is my life expectancy ?

If you do have HCV it is not an automatic death sentence. I have probably had it for 40 years or more.
But I hope that the test comes back negative and puts your mind at ease.

I have HCV and I have fatty liver, all determined by a biopsy.
My Dr. told me I can reduce my liver enzymes by loosing a little weight.
