Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

I am new to this group and am finally glad that I joined. My fiance, Juniorsgirl, has been talking with all of you over these past few weeks and been coming to me with a lot of good information and positive thoughts from all of you. I finall had to join.

I just found out the first of July that I have Hepatitis C type 1a. My viral load is 320000, which from what I hear is pretty low. It freaked me out to say the least and it kind of still does. I have always been a very healthy person and thanks to some bad choices and just plain stupidity, I put myself in those "high risk" situations and now here I am.

I saw y specialist this past friday and got to ask some really good questions and feel a bit better. The livier biopsy is next. Then treatment. I'm a little scared. This is all so new to me. I thought that this would be a god idea to join this group to get mental support from all of you that have been helping my girl to research.

Welcome! You are definitely in the right place! You will gain much knowledge here------everyone is so nice and will help you. These people saved me. I was so scared and did not know what was happening---the docs don't want to tell you more than they have to. Ask lots of questions, drink lots of water and please let us know what the doc says and about the biopsy. The biopsy sounds scarey---but it is not so bad--------I was terrified, but it really is ok. Your viral load does sound low so you have that going for your right now.

Well I'm glad you have support around you thats great. Your vl is pretty low which makes your chances of beating this disease better. This site is great welcome!

HOWDY and WELCOME, glad to see U as we are all in the same boat. If u have a question or two please ask I am here to help if I can. We don't care how u got it, just here to help. Finished one year of treatment (TX) and waiting for my three months post viral load (VL) now. Started at 5.5 million and genotpye 1a. FOR MOST PEOPLE THE BIOPSY IS A WALK IN THE PARK. Oh don't pay any attention to the guy on my avalar he's doing "The Undie Dance in the light of the full moon and the Gator Buzz's way no undies".

Glad that you joined John - as you can see, you are not alone in this journey. It's good that you joined - the support can be priceless. You are feeling as we all did when we found out that we had this disease - its a scary time. But with knowledge and time, it gets easier to deal with. Feel free to ask whatever you need to.
