I saw a liver guy two months ago who tried to push me into starting TX immediately. I was armed w/info learned here (THank you!!!!!) -- I knew more than he did about what's coming. To his credit, he agreed to research, and he recently met with one of the top liver guys in the country and got info on the new meds. The bad news for me is that they're mostly being tested in NEw Zealand on 1b's so they can look better than they are. (I"m 1a). Even so, he thinks I can wait the 2 years (and he says a year and a half will be the earliest) even though I've had it for 30 years and am fibrosure .57. He said what we all know --- the new meds will have fewer sides and much higher cure rates, esp. for 1b's. He did recommend meeting with the top guy, who is is NYC. I will do so if he's on my insurance. It's a relief, though there is always the chance that things will progress quickly in those 2 years. But it seems like the right choice for me.
