Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Well the day I've been waiting for all year is here...I gave my 1st inj. tonight...I am geno type 1a, il28b alleles is CT, stage 3-4, my baseline VL is 5,600,000. I was previously tx last spring for 5 weeks, but was dx due to low CBC's, nor was I responding. I now have a very good Dr., Paul Kwo at University Hosp. in Indianapolis...I'm prescribed 400 mg. of ribavirin 2x a day and 180 mc. of pegasys injection 1x weekly, of course, for 4 weeks then will add victrelis as my protease inhibitor for an additional 44 weeks...yeehaa!!!!!! Anyone else on victrelis or thursday night shooter, could use any and all advise....good luck everybody.....peace and love, beth ann
(i did the treatment two 1/2 years ago and was on 180 interferon and 1200 of riba.)
