So since I'm getting ready soon to start txs and have never taken them before, I have a question about the shots. Does the pharmacy give you only one at a time, like once a week?

Pharoah, I got stuck in a storm and couldn't get a flight home and ended up missing a shot by 3 days. I took the next shot 6 days later, then again 6 days later, until i got on schedule

ML, not sure about all pharmacies, but here's how Medco mail order works. For the first three months, they will only ship one month at a time, and will charge you the copay each time. Frankly, they want to ensure that you can tolerate the meds, and at the cost of the meds they don't want to ship 90 days and you quit early

After the third 30 day shipment, you can start ordering 90 days supplies. Oddly the copay for 30 and 90 is the same, so there's a real savings once you hit 90

also, the drugs come packed in ice and you have to be there to sign for the fedex package. So doing it once every 90 days is a lot more convenient

that's the way it worked for Inf, Riba and Victrelis. Not sure if I had to wait to get a 90 days shipment of Procrit.

I know what I would do..and it's like what Joe did. I would take it asap and time the others out even if i did fhsm 6 days later for a few cycles until i got back on track. i have no doubt that that's what I'd do.

I've done great with my hiv meds for years but have made the choice to double up a dose when i couldn't remember if i took it even shortly after as can happen. Obviously very different types of meds with hcv though and i would not double up on interSUCKon personally. But I could not imagine forgetting giving myself a shot of that. Yes, I try to also refill my meds timely so that i'm never without a shot in the fridge. Speaking of #19 tomorrow. God please make this end soon is all I will add.

I was forced to miss a shot due to low wbc & platelets, but took it again about 8 days later after bloodwork came back & wbc was higher. I get 4 shots at a time. Caremark always calls me when it's time to reorder. If they didn't for some reason, I would be on the phone w/them. I have to find out about the 90 day ordering now that Joe mentioned it. I only have 91 days left! 13 shots.

I order once a month.It comes in a 4 pack.Last 28 days.I give myself plenty of time when reordering.After my 3rd shot I order the next batch.Comes like clock work.Never had a problem.I would take the shot as soon as you can.

I don't know if I would order more than a month.I lose my power a lot.And my luck my fridge might bite the dust.

My doctor told me that there is a two day window after and a one day before. Meaning, if my regular shot day is Sat, I could change my schedule to Fri, Sun or Monday without causing any harm. But when you change to a new schedule that is the schedule you should continue throughout tx.

Is your friend using the Peggassit or Beincharge help line? They will answer these questions for you.

Oh yes I also get 4 in a "fun box" every month and am also ordering after I use the third one, which is tonight.

ECC, it's a smart move to have at least one ahead! KMelly gave me a tip about waiting a few weeks after I got my first meds, before I started tx. Great tip because I messed up my fourth shot. I had the next shipment, so no stress and no change of schedule.

I did wait until the end of tx to order my final shot....I had thought about only doing 23. :)

WEll I would say you need to call the coctor first chance you get and he will strighten the pharmist out. But I dont know how important it is or is not to miss one because I can not take it. So this is jusyt my opion
