The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Actually it takes a lot of work i.e., social / political action to get this changed, which requires lots of time, effort and money to get the word out. Or we just wait for the drug prices to fall when the private insurers have paid and the system has been gouged. Eventually the pharmaceuticals will want the second and third tier of patients to access their drugs. Sucks eh?

I hate that Canada with all its advantages in healthcare that I have... I got chemo drugs ...no problem...got INF/riba ..no problem free dental care ..free scripts ...free hearing aids and cheap glasses ....now ithere is a drug that really works ... only geno1's get solvadi and only geno 1's will get Harvoni
Question.... would it really cost them that much more to give the 5% of geno 3's the new drugs too especially those with with cirrhosis ??????

Everyone put out some great comments and good questions....

Many of us have gone from having great insurance through our Employers to either being put on Medicare D, Medicaid, or cut backs, etc.
Life throws you curves.
In the long run, we ALL deserve the right to be treated!! My guess is they want to wait until it can be GENERIC and then if the people are still alive, then treat them.

Very sad society we live in.....Very messed up......Nothing makes sense.....
