ptriss, tks....... HAEM comes from haemaglobin and when shown against a lab result it simply means that the blood had clotted by the time it got to the lab and the sample could not be used for testing purposes.
so that clears that one up.
hope you are all doing well
stay positive and be happy my friends:)

I knew haem was a prefix for blood, but didn\'t know the jargon lab techs use to say the sample was clotted. And I\'m a nurse. There ya go. We learn so much from each other. But thanks for not posting until you checked it out with your doc.
Always review your labs with your doc before you leave your appt. Always ask questions like, "What does this mean?" "How will this affect my condition or treatment?" "Is there anything I should or shouldn\'t be doing?" And always ask for a copy of your labs.
If the Potassium gets to high you could have a heart attack. Minerals need to be balanced inside your blood or you will have a problem with blood that is either to thick or to thin. you are very dehydrated from lack of water, as are most liver patients. My alts and asts change all the time, the intensity of inflammation also changes the blood counts.
I am not able to get treatment for my condition which has now advanced to early cirrhosis, but I am in great shape via my blood results. I am also a brittle diabetic so my food choices have been limited which has improved my liver tests. No Sugar, No Salt, No pop, nothing that has processed sugar in it. I take supplements proscribed by my nutrionalist and I have even reversed my bad lipids. All things are possible. I have had this disease now for almost 30 years, I am genotype 1a, stage 4 bridging fibrosis, NASH, and my numbers are now all within normal ranges. My viroload is 500,000 very low for having it this long. I feel great today with a few minor diet changes.
sorry heart that you cant get tx. if you are only at the early stages of cirrhosis, why is that my friend? i am cirrhotic and have all sorts of other health issues too. at first i was told that they prolly wouldnt treat me, but i insisted and they gave me what they called my 'one chance' on tx. i am due to take # 44 of 72 this friday, cos tx doesnt respond well to cirrhosis and i'm still hanging in there. i know its nothing to do with me my friend and i am sorry if i appear to be interfering, i mean no offense, but why try going for a 2nd opinion. why not fight 'em. this is your life hon. go for it! we're all behind you. good luck and keep us informed of your progress.
