the first and second shot had me in excruciating lower back pain for about 6 hrs. it was horrible. never felt that kinda pain.

when did you take your shot? the pain didn't come right away. took several hours.

I took my first shot at 1:30 yesterday. My middle to upper back is killing me.

most people on here say to take tylenol and so did my doctor. i found out that the reason they say to take tylenol is cause incase you need emergency surgery. you know, aspirin causes the platlets not to clot. (but i took aspirin most of the time anyway until later in treatment when my rbc's went way low. then i had to take tylenol but it doesnt' seem to work very good for me.)

so i guess you might try to take a pain pill?

i'm sure someone on here will have a much better suggestion?

watch your posture junior. if you slouch itll tear your neck and shoulders up.

yes - My partner spent a bit of time in the early days finding tightened ligaments close to my spine and shoulder blades that required some work post shots, however it eased after a couple of weeks -. no problem now

that's where my back hurt after my last shot (#15). it hurt for 2 -3 days. yoga type stretching helped but didn't get rid of it completely. wondering how i'll feel tomorrow after my shot tonight.

After getting a massage a couple of weeks ago my therapist told me my muscles were very tense (not like me) and jittery. It is probably due to the Riba. A heating pad helped me in the beginning, massage is nice, stretching is great and doing whatever you can to relax.

Keep in mind that any discomfort or 'problems' you had before will be intensified during tx. Good luck to you

yes its normal but still tell your doctor everything

look at side effects of your meds. i think back pain is one of the serious side effect of the pills or shot call your dr and tell him. iam looking at my pegasys drug information and its says contact your dr immediately for a lot of sides and one of them is back pain.may not be anything but call.kenny

It depends I find that if we have an existing problem, for example asthma, it will get more aggravated with this type of treatment.
Maybe you already had back pain for some reason, or past injury, well with these meds, it may activate the pain.
Ibuprofen is good for the pain, some use Aleve, less pills to take during a 24 hour period.

I agree with Capn, posture is a big one. My back hurt so bad alot because I didn't have the energy to sit up straight. My shoulder would hurt alot too. Its normal.

I find my muscles tighten up also, mostly neck and shoulders, sometimes lower back. Legs get stiff, but simple stretches make a world of difference (and massage too!)

I started recently too, my back and my hip bone hurt, I asked for and got some pain meds, I itched and got a pill for that, couldn't sleep, got a pill for that, I have been having nightmares and feelings of dread, yes they gave me a pill for that too. I havent gotten them to find a pill that will stop me being such a bitch yet. I am so snappy, cranky and I wish I could stop, I have been sort of keeping my head down because I dont want to get in a fight with anyone. I had to call comcast today because they are double billing me and threatening me, I told the lady I was not mad at her personally but I unleashed some fury at comcast today, it just made me feel guilty , didnt do any good but what the heck, I was not able to be nice about it.

My back does hurt when I don't sit or stand straight, I will try to remember that. good luck, anddont forget to ask for help from the drs when you need it.
