It to my dr a month to get my itching under control. Mine was so bad that I still have places on my arms and legs from May. I take hydroxyz daily. It about drove my nuts (which could be a short trip).

i thought i would go mad with all the itching while in treatment. ask your doctor for a prescription for visteril.

i'd take the visteril and benedryl at the same time. then i'd put on some extra-strenth poison ivy medication from the drug store along with aveeno extra-strength nighttime moisturizer.

NO hot showers ! makes it twice as itcy!

hang in there cause it'll go away in 3 or 4 weeks.

Carol, I used Zyrtec and Benadryl at the same time (my doc said it was okay). I took Zyrtec in the morning and Benadryl before bedtime.

Along with the meds you can try cool Aveeno Oatmeal baths and/or Sarna Anti-itch Lotion.

Itching usually drives me to the shower. It is so hot down here in Houston, that we don't even HAVE to turn on the hot water faucet to take a shower.....you have to let the cold water run for awhile so that you don't get too warm. After the shower though, I REALLY start itching.

I think that the itching is the most maddening side effect of this treatment. I'm gonna go get some Zyrtec and take that in the a.m. and benadryl at night.

I had the itch long before I ever started on any tx just from my liver. So yes get the zyrtec. I've been on it for years. When I'm not on treatment I just take it at night but while on treatment I take it at night and in the morning. I also have to use eye drops for dry eyes cause the zyrtec caused me to have very dry eyes.
