How are people finding out how long they have been infected?
Are they assuming this from a memory of the most likely situation they were infected? Did a Doctor tell them, based on the amount of damage? Is there a test? Did they remember the onset of acute/flue like symptoms 20/30 years ago?I'm just curious, I hear it all the time.

Very interesting Bob. Could be, it's been around for a long time.
I've never turned yellow, despite fairly advanced cirrhosis.

Personally ? I know when as do so many others here. Didn't need any Dr. to confirm when, just confirm that I did indeed have it. Didn't matter when or how. The only important thing was what was the amount of damage at the present moment and what could we do about it.
Proving fault or liability didn't matter then because there was already protections in place so you couldn't sue the red cross for trying to save your life.
So for what it's worth,
When ? A long dark time ago.

There are Many many answers to that question. I myself was stilll shooting up and living on the streets when my needle broke and the guy that I was doing it with baggged me NOT to use his well the next time or shortly after the plasma that I use to sell well they would not take it anymore and I was simply told to see a doctor by them and I do remember getting what felt like the flu but thing wwas it lasted like 6 to 7 months which had nevber happened to me before. NWell my next stright time period I went to doc for stomach pain and he called me back like that evening and told me I had what was non a non b virious back then. That was 1981. But Im sure everyone here will answer this diffferently when the time comes you will figure it out. Sorry you have it.
