I never got a cold or a flu during treatment or after, but my energy level still isn't 100% yet...close. I think that lots of handwashing and taking care of yourself are the best defenses...

Great advice already on this thread on the prevention front, it is all you can do - wash, wash, and wash again, don't touch your mouth and nose too much and avoid very crowded places if at all possible.
