That is awesome that you are undie and hats off to you for going thru treatment. I have not started yet. I also get sick alot especially when I watch my 2yr old grandaughter that p o's me the most out of all of this ecky virus. I find that sivler biotics works for me it helps the immune system,I feel better when I'm taking it. Good Luck.

My doc told me to take zinc 200mgs aday haven't been sick since. good luck to you.

I did take the flu shot & haven't been sick at all - so far. (I'm on wk 44 of triple). I also don't get too close to people, don't even breathe sometimes if i detect someone is sick & walking by me, wash my hands alot, HATE to have to shake hands w/people & if I do, I wash them or use one of those little wipes as soon as I can. I don't touch anything in a public bathroom. I use a papertowel or my sleeve for opening the door, etc. Cold & flu germs are most readily spread through hands & breathing in the germs. I'm hoping this obsessive thing about germs eases up eventually. I feel a little wierd about it - but haven't gotten a cold. I also drink a glass of oj everyday & eat plenty of fruits & veg & I walk for excersize. I don't take any additional supplements while on tx. Every few days I put toasted wheat germ on my cereal or oatmeal. It has folic acid, it E, & other good stuff in it.

I never got a cold or a flu during treatment or after, but my energy level still isn't 100% yet...close. I think that lots of handwashing and taking care of yourself are the best defenses...

Being post-translant, I virtually have no immune system, since I'm on immunosuppressants. So the upcoming treatments and getting over them is quite a concern. Oddly enough, the don't want to do things to build up my immune system, because then I'm at a higher chance of rejecting my new liver. What a mess. But my problem is different than anyone else here, I suppose, except maybe Henry. Wonder why we're not hearing from him.

Thanks so much for the advice. So it's zinc, vitamin d3 but where do you get this silver biotics? I've got to do something to pick up my immune system so I'm desperate at this time. Sick of being sick.

I'm the same as you, Texas, transplant immunosupressant drugs a nightmare, specially in winter. Also being around my grandkids and any little kids. I get average 6 bouts of virus each winter, but my Doc gives me emergency antibiotics to stop infections getting worse.

Great advice already on this thread on the prevention front, it is all you can do - wash, wash, and wash again, don't touch your mouth and nose too much and avoid very crowded places if at all possible.
