I drank this weekend and boy do I regret it. I don't drink on a regular basis, i'm a binge drinker. Maybe about every 3 months. I barely drank what I would normally drink and man it kicked my A$$. Maybe its Karma from my recent post. But like many of you said " a healthy liver today does not mean a healthy liver tomorrow. I think I better take this more serious. I have always taken things for granted. And as always i wind up hurting people too with my behavior. Instant asshole just add alcohol. I do appreciate all your responses on my other post, I think its time for me to grow up. Larry.

I am glad you found out for yourself that drinking is not the solution. I know it was not easy, but I am thrilled to hear that you are going forward in life and trying something different. Wonderful comments were added. My best to you, Larry as you embark on this new part of your journey.

Thank you very much for all the positive feedback. I certainly need to make many changes in my life and face all my demons. Having the support of you people on DS is a very big help. I'm very grateful this site is here for us. I have a spleen and liver ulrasound test tomorrow and I'm going to see my old gastroenteroligist on wednesday to get a second opinion on whether to treat now or hang on abit to wait for new treatment that doesn't have as many side effects. I am a big baby when it comes to feeling sick and with my panic attack disorder it might be better for me to wait. I'll have to wait till all the tests are in and see what the Doctors say and then make my decision. As Bartles and James used to say...."Thanks for your support" LOL

Not being able to drink has been the biggest challenge for me so far. I am not a problem drinker but a social one and it comes up often in my social circles like it does for you Barbe. I have been having maybe one drink weekly if that since March but will stop during my treatment starting this Friday. My MD and team knows my infection is acute due to my regular bloodwork with HIV. I am definitely hoping and planning to treat and put this behind me and to be able to socially drink again. I'm not an alcoholic but more of a foodie and I enjoy a variety of alcoholic beverages as I do coffee beverages. Binge drinking is certainly never a good idea though even without Hep C. Anyway I enjoy alcohol and love it and miss it and stand by my convictions. I do support people in their decisions to limit or abstain though and always support those that choose sobriety. I can't believe I'm starting tx this week!! Ugh. I do want to get it over with though and I'm hoping for success and few symptoms. All I can think about now. This virus sucks. :'-(

I hear ya eyeore455, I loved to go out with my friends and drink martini's until we couldn't stand. Now, I go out, drink soda or water and can have just as much fun, still miss a drink once in a while, but don't want to take the chance. it is hard, but you can do it!!!

I also drink seltzer water w/a slice of lime when at a place that serves alcohol. No reason to explain to anyone WHY. It looks like a gin/vodka tonic. It actually scared me to drink after I read so many posts here for about 2 yrs. I am waiting for the all pill meds, no trials in the Allentown/Bethlehem area. My biopsy was about 5 years ago, and I will NOT get another one until I tx again. No need to know the results now, as my body totally rejected the 48 wk tx regimen. Ultrasounds are kinda unreliable unless u have a lot of scarring. I had one several months ago, and it came up as no scarring. Everyone has a different opinion on biopsy's but I believe that is the true test. I live a clean life not as I feel I not only owe it to myself but also my daughter and grand kids. I am very involved in their lives, and I take care of them a lot and am dependable, unlike their fathers and the other sides of their families. There are several hcv meetings in Allentown, and am going to attend 1 a month. If u want to meet me there, just msg me. I'd like to hear peoples experiences in person. I'm proud of u Larry, this weekend opened ur eyes. We are not getting any younger!!!!!!! Peace Love and Light Always~
