Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I got my results today from my 6 month blood work. Here is what my Dr.'s letter said
Your liver blood tests were all within normal limits. The hepatitus C RNA PCR was negative meaning that there is no detectable virus. This is very good news as patients who have been treated successfully have a negative PCR for the virus at 6 months are extremely unlikely as less than 1% will ever have a recurrence. Therefore it is not recommended to do further viral tests. It is certainly not unreasonable that you have a liver test every year because of your history of ulcerative colitis as there are some liver disorders that can be associated with uc.
Great news! I have been scared to check the mail - thinking the liver enzymes would be elevated again.
For the ones who don't know my story- I only was able to take 9 shots and I killed it. I was genotype 2a.

That's awesome , and I pray that's the way it stays, and I have no doubt it will!
You know, a lot of other Geno 2's would do good to read what you wrote. My Doctor told me that she has never seen a geno 2 that finished the tx not clear the virus. Heck, you cleared with only 9 weeks. They do have a successful tx for Hep C right now and it is only getting better. I just wished more folks knew that, and what Blue said. Finding out that you have this thing is the very first step in fighting it!!!
