Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I'm not familiar with Sjogen's, but I agree with the comments above make a lot of sense to me.
There are new drugs slated to be released soon that have better results, shorter treatment times, and greatly reduced side effects. I encourage you to speak to your doctor soon about treatment options.
Sometimes if you have multiple health issues going on at once you have to start by taking the best care of yourself that you can, then tackle them one at a time.
Good luck,
Bob
When were you diagnosed with HCV? How long do you think you've had it? What kind of doc are you seeing for it? What tests have been done? Do you know your genotype - you'll need to know this for treatment.
I have HCV and Sjogrens, but my SjS is secondary to RA so if it causes fatigue or joint pain I wouldn't know it. I take Evoxac for my SjS and use eye drops.
Thanks for the advice...I do eat very helathy and exercise as much as possible.
I was told I had it back in 91, and am currently seeing a GI for it. I don't know my genotype. I've asked my GI, but he just says 'you don't have to worry about it", etc.(?) Everyone always asks that, so it must pretty significant. I'll ask to be tested for it and let you know. Thanks again.
Now the depression..what is the other destroyer of mind , friendships, marriages. You could try pills ..but it is works for some and not for others. Exercise and good food maybe your best bet. If you can get treatment in the next few months many of your problem will go away..
Hi Snuggles. I googled sjogrens to learn something about it and found this nice article from the sjogrens foundation. You may have already seen something lke this, but I thought it was good, and some good advice.
I don't like the fact that you dr blew it off when you asked what geno type you are. If they've determined that you have hcv, it would stand to reason your geno type is also known. It just may be that you won't have to treat for hep c - or at least not for a while.
Either way, I feel bad for you & hope you get some relief soon.
Prayers!
Bill
I am familiar with SS foundation, it's a wonderful organization, and truly a blessing for those newly diagnosed.
I'll read through the posts as suggested, lots of information to learn about I'm sure. So glad to be here, and look forward to meeting you all...people who truly understand...
Thanks again, and blessings to you all!
