Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

This 2013 Hepatitis Single Topic Conference was an examination of treatment types for special populations. The six sessions held covered:
the current state-of-the-art genotype,
FDA designated special populations,
treatment in the face of comorbidities,
treatment of HCV associated extrahepatic disease,
"other" special groups,
the elimination of underserved populations, and
point/counterpoint regarding controversial groups.
This program was supported by the AASLD/Roche Pharmaceuticals Hepatitis Single Topic Conference Endowment.

I played the video about post-transplant 3 times, since she has an accent that's hard to understand. I wasn't thrilled about the outcome, especially if I'm past phase 2 fibrosis, even when the new txs come out, which probably won't be soon enough for me anyway. Thanks for the post, kramer. Marilyn

Marilyn, did you look at the expanded access videos by any chance?
Btw, the Doctor is from Spain and he accent is a bit different but, I just replayed it over where I wasn't confident in what she said...

Some of the speakers sounded like they wish they didn't have to deal with the "special populations" and yet others were really sincere in their expressions of concern for the "other people" like Marilyn & myself.

Nonetheless, they was some interesting presentations although I wish the recording quality was better. :>) :>) :>) Thanks K!

I must admit I only listened to the Geno 1 treatment experienced video as that pertains to me. I saw the headers on the other videos and felt it worthy of sharing.
AS you know for years there was nothing offered for many of us and now there is so much coming.
I truly hope with all my heart that you can find a way to "hold on" until a treatment for you is available. The innovations and closer release dates just keep coming :^)
