Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

are there any old timers of this group around that remember how full this group used to be? this can only mean one thing, we're all being cured, Thank God.

Hi Kath: I'm an old timer from 2008. After I completed my treatment I remained virus free for less than 6 months. Since I'm a genotype B which is the easiest to cure the system isn't developing any new medications for people in my category. They concentrate on genotype A which is the more difficult of the two to cure. I think stress had a lot to do with my not remaining virus free but I can't go back and change that now. If I knew then what I know now I'd have definitely changed a few things in my life in order to eliminate as much stress as possible.

If you consider early 2012 an old timer then I'm here on and off. More on than off lately. Two weeks to go on the 24 week TX For Harvoni. Have to wait another 12 weeks after that to see if I cleared. I will be around at least until then.

KCaller...Bristol Meyers is coming out soon with Daclasvir sp? I hear by Sept...knews is breaking pretty positive for this one and it is a 3 pill TX with 97% I think... ..just read it again on yahoo

Correction: 93% in trial cured

Bristol-Myers Squibb funded the trial of the combination of three drugsdaclatasvir, asunaprevir, and beclabuvir. None of the three drugs are FDA-approved, but daclatasvir is currently under review by the FDA. Duke Medicine researchers collaborated on the design and analysis of the trial and authored the findings.
The trial recruited patients with hepatitis C-related cirrhosis, or scarring of the liver, 112 of whom had not previously been treated for hepatitis C, and 90 who had previous unsuccessful therapies. For those with past failed therapies and potential resistance, the drugs were slightly less successful, eliminating the virus in 87 percent.
