(Reuters) - Gilead Sciences Inc is on track to file for regulatory approval of sofosbuvir, its treatment for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, starting in mid-2013, the biotech company said on Monday.

Gilead is scheduled to give investors an update on its candidates for HCV treatment at a JPMorgan healthcare conference this week in San Francisco.

The company will discuss new results from an arm of a continuing Phase 2 trial and provide a progress report on a range of Phase 2 and 3 trials evaluating a once-daily fixed-dose combination tablet of the medicines.

Did anyone here do any of their trials??

How succesful? How bad are the side effects?

Correct Kat it does not say but Phase III is Sofosbuvir and GS-5885 only so it's just a matter of time for approval and I fully expect it to fall into place.
The urgency is not only for investors and profit but also the huge financial burden of livers of Interferon non responder's crashing and hospitals being over burdened and insurance claims sky rocketing.
It will happen this year...

No doubt it's amazing...I am watching this trial closely...

Very promising now they need to pull the trigger and get these new meds for FDA approval and get them out to the public quickly. Good read Kramer.

Hell I wouldn't even mind Phase II with Riba. It's the Interferon that won't work for me and has maimed me for life. Riba is not picnic but it doesn't leave the lasting damage that Interferon can in some folks.

when they say treatment experinced they refering to relasper's. Sounds good for G2 if i'm reading it right. peace

yes a bit to digest but basically Sofosbuvir with Abbots GS-5885 is 100% cure for ALL geno 1 non responders too
Geno 2 and 3 do well on 12 weeks of Sofosbuvier with Interferon and Riba and only about 60% without Interferon

It's most significant in 12 week treatment time and drugs with minimal sides and the BIGGY is for those of us that Interferon therapies won't work ..this one will!

What great news! I'm excited for you, Kramer, and everyone else that will benefit from this....especially those with cirrhosis (like me) whose options are limited. I'm on 5885/7977 with Riba, and was clear at week 3 or 4. The Riba has kicked my arse on occasion, but it's absolutely doable. 16 more days....
