Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
" The first thing you must do for yourself and is think positively, it's half the battle of the many battles you will entertain during your journey on treatment..
I know it's gonna be hard, but think of it as getting your life back.
Remember a positive attitude is half the battle.
Then find a comfort zone in your home, a place where you can rest, and have all of your stuff, that you will need to deal with your therapy.
I figure your bedroom, so get everything organized for when you will start your treatment.
Hopefully you have a computer in your room! also a phone, television and whatever for your music.
Then you will need water, lots of it! don't know about you, but I only drink bottle water, so I had cases and cases of temperature bottled water in my closet.
I also kept a big bowl of fresh fruits, in my room, along with snacks, like granula bars, protein bars, ect....
Because some days, it will take everything out of you, to just go and pee in the washroom, so having all these nik naks will keep you from having to get up for this and that.
If you have money to spend, go to your pharmacist, and buy:
1. nose drops
2. eye drops
3. ear drops
4. Aveeno lotion
5. shampoo for hair lost, its called, NIOXIN.
6, Advil Migraine liquid gel capsules.
7. Tylenols 500mgs for aches and pains.
8. Gravol, for nausea, pink pills given to a child while travelling in a car.
9. Milk of magnesium to stay regulated.
10. Eventually get your doctor to prescribe you a mild sleeping pill, if you have problems sleeping at night.
11. Needle dispenser which will be provided by your gi nurse.
12. Air conditioning, or big fan for the hot flash you may experience.
13. Microwavable beany bag for the chills after your shot.

15. A daily journal for side effects.
16. A agenda for shot nights, and appointments at gi, PCP, bloodwork (hospital)
17. A good collection of your favorite music.

If you contact the company of whom you will be taking treatment from, you are entitled to a free package from their co. and also be sure they send you a specially made vacation bag, for when you need to travel with your medication.
We both got several of them, when my hubby and I both did our journey, our Research Consultant Nurse Ann, would give us whatever free bee she would receive from the co in questions.
She was the best, even thought once of calling me to get a cup of coffee, when she was going shopping in Montreal.
She was passing by, near our home.
If you can have a great relationship with the gi's nurse consultant that will be in charge of your treatment, it will be more of a joy to make the trip and get to talk to her in a friendly way, instead of strickly business.
I even had her email, and we took pics of all of us, including our doctor, Linda Scully. (Ottawa)

So remember to add on laughs they help too along with brownies. They cheer me up on shot night.
Exercise helps with the insomnia too.

When I went through tx, it will be a year ago May 16th, wow, how time flies. And successfully, I followed Mckenzies advice, and I just know that I suffered less because of all the great teachings she shared. Thank you Doll....still feeling great and virus free!
