If you don't know someone how can you know if their righteous or not?
From my understanding no one can tell you exactly where you got it.
We have it and we try to deal with it the best we know how.

Many people have hep c and don't even know it!
I to was bad with drugs and I'm an alcoholic.
Very good idea to quit drugs and alcohol as you will live longer!

You're right! How one got Hep C has absolutely nothing to do with today. The important element of the conversation is how you choose to live now. I don't know how I got Hep C, but believe me, there were many different possibilities. I do know that I have probably had it for nearly 25 years (had liver enzyme tests show up bad way back then). I also know that my diagnosis did not change who I am today one little bit! Judgment over how one contracted the disease is just sad! We all, in my opinion, will be much healthier focusing on today and the future, not that past:)

What??? I really don't know what you are trying to at here but how someone contracted this virus is irrelevant. I never did drugs, my daughter never did drugs, my husband yes he did them over 30 years ago but what makes it any different? We all have it, we all have to face it and try to rid ourselves of it. Djharg, I'm not sure what prompted your post -- did someone say you deserve it? If so, that person isn't worth the time of day and you should ignore them. I don't think anyone on this board has ever judged someone else on how they got Hep C.

well I did use heroin and I know I brought this on myself but NO ONE is better than any of us people that are in recovery !!!..like it has been said "it doesn't matter how you got it :)~~~Janet

Hell yeah........How I wish I didn't have this hep c! But I do, and I'm going through treatment. I don't care what people think, how I got it....they aren't me, going through what I have.

I do have a strong support system, and I know that each and everyone of of them love me for who I am, and are here for me. They don't care how I got it, they just want to help me through this.

I don't think I'll ever drink again. I don't do drugs, but I'll be super careful with rx drugs.

Just becaues you done drugs doesn't make you a junkie. Now, if you wake up everyday wondering where and how your going to get your next fix, then that to me is a junkie

i tell people straight up that i used a needle 30 yrs ago a few times. who the heck is in a position to look down on me? we all do stupid s*** all the time. its called HUMAN..

Most people only assume they contracted this from a specific cause. We don't really know, and it doesn't matter. Knowing we have it is a blessing, because we take care of ourselves and maybe get tx.
Nobody "deserves" illness. Its an act of nature, like a hurricane or tornado, part of life on earth.
We can build a shelter, pick up the debris, but we can't control the forces.

As said already it does not matter how you got it , just that you know and decide what to do as a person. Yes there is stigma associated with HEP C , HEP B but , who cares here at DS that is why we all gathered here I thought.

Actually it was my ex having risky sex and her boyfriend using IV meth. I was pouring concrete and framing houses in the hot sun totally oblivious to her behavior...
They say revenge is a dish best served cold, but in the meantime I've got to get over this.

DJ....my X hubby "thinks" (or thought) he got it from drugs....but who the hell really knows. I don't think it is a disease that you can "pin point" when/where/how you got it.

The important thing is to get rid of it.

If they ask where ya got....tell em ya don't know....but you would be happy to give it back!!

who are these "o so righteous hepc people" you speak of anyway? are you sure you're on the right website? i've met a lot of people on here, but none as of whom you speak. i believe you owe these good people an apology. in the meantime, obviously from all of these replies, and myself included, here is a much needed for you.
