I am bummed. I'd waited months to get an apt. with a top liver guy at Mt. Sinai. He's supposed to know about all the new TX's and has access to a Fibroscan. My plan was to talk to him, get the scan, and figure out if I can wait for the new drugs, or even the wave after that (It seems the ones about to come out still use inteferon or Riba; the ones without either could be another 5 years). But my husband had a dental emergency and I had to take him to his apt. and cancel mine. He tried to tough it out because he knew how important this was, but he was in agony. So now I have to wait until Oct. All this waiting is quite stressful. If I knew how my liver really was (fibrosure .57 sucks but may not be accurate) then I'd know how to proceed.

Cat, your post was not too long. It was informative. I thank you for posting. Being a gen 1a also. I wonder who on here have had their IL1228. Or FORGIVE me. What the hell is the test that checks you're CC TT or what is it?. Like my gastro told me in Oct. " your more likely to die from something else, other than the HCV". That calmed my nerves and I, like yourself, have calmed down considerably knowing this may be the case. No Interfearon or RIBA for me, ps: where does one get that gene test (mentioned above) showing your propensity for SVR once treated? Have a good Thursday.

Don't worry Sweety. The one good thing about this is virious it moves so slowly seems we always do have time to wait. So don't worry Oct will be here before ya know it.

Yes, I was talking about Dr. Deitrich (sp?). I'm 1a, had this for 30 years. The local liver guy I went to recently was urging TX, said because I was infected so young, I'd "probably die fromt his and not something else." Not great for helping with anxiety.
But since I've been waiting 30 years, another few months isn't much. I need to get as much done as possible before Dec, though, when my health insurance plan is being discontinued (The company says it's due to the costs of Obamacare. Nice excuse) and I may end up with much worse coverage. But I'll wait, since I'm not sure what else to do. I can't hang out and wait for cancellations 'cause I have small children. I had to c oordinate this apt. with my husband's schedule. But Oct. isn't that far away...
