I am a juvinelle onset type 1 diabetic. I have been one for 40 years. (Give or take.)
Being a diabetic on Tx is a challange. Your husband's doctor will want to be monitering him closely during Tx. I got through it. It was difficult as Tx activated latent off the charts rheumatoid arthritis in me. Also, I am anemic, so my RBC count was low. Being a diabetic you are prone to infection, slow healing, etc. Tx can raise your BG's as can infection. (You are prone to infection on Tx, too) He will have to work closely with his endocrinologist and Gastro.
It CAN be done! I was a slow responder. I had to fight to stay on Tx. They kept wanting to pull me. I do not know if being a diabetic had anything to do with my being a slow responder.
It is a long, hard fight, but as I said, it can be done. :-)
I did 24 wks tx and got through it but you really really have to check your sugar levels. The riba will send them through the roof. There are oral meds to help get them back down. Just keep up on the monitoring and you will be fine
Thank you everyone. Having two chronic illness is a challenge . Did the medicine work for you guys??
