11 for Hemoglobin is still normal. My hospital will not give me procrit unless I am 10.9 or less. Right now I am at 10.0

Some hospitals and Drs do not give procrit till under 9 or not at all. The reduce drugs instead.

ps. to those on triple-tx stay out of the sun!!! My biggest whoops moment of tx...... I started during the summer and my skin was really destroyed from being outside. Wear hats and sunglasses like the rockstars yall are :)

Hi, I would usually do something physical too as it is more instant than my other option of brainwashing myelf with positivity. I use a positive affirmation cd, meditation and a spiritual book. A deliberate brainwashing, and each one feels corny and cheesy at the time but I need to give myself a holiday from myself. Gratitude lists, yes I write out lists and lists of all the things I have to be greatful for and thank God (whoever they are) for the things he/she hasn't given me yet too that I want to manifest in life. I force myself to do the things that are good for me that will eventually make me feel good like (eating lots of fruit or making green juices), and try to dismiss the negative thoughts as they squueze back in.

When I was actively in tx I found things to do that didn't take a lot of energy. I am now addicted to LMN (Lifetime Movie Network) and word finds! LOL. I took a LOT of oatmeal baths and journaled my sxs both physical and emotional and sides as well. It kept me honest, and sane at times too!

On the procrit topic, I ended treatment 3 weeks ago, and my hemoglobin finally got up to 11.4, which is still low. But, I was told to stop taking procrit, and that decision totally matches my physical ability At 11.4, I can walk a flight of steps while talking and don't need to sit and recover.

I guess at 11 I wouldn't be running a marathon, but I can go for a walk without gasping

Ditto all of the above. I would go out and walk dogs first thing every day. That way I knew I would at least get some physical activity into my day. I also gave myself permission not to go if I was truely too fatigued. But I had to be deep down honest with myself. ICK. And yes, there were days that I really couldn't, but only a handfull. I love dogs, so made sure that I got a lot of doggie time every day. I insisted on laughing at something every day. Some days it was an effort just to get up and find something on u tube, but it always helped. I took an antidepressant - Zoloft which I'm sure helped. And talk to someone every day. I quickly discovered that after about three days of talking to dogs and houseplants, I got a little wierd. Hang in, Nancy

I started my tx on March 14th of this year. Didn't feel any sick side effects but the anger and rage set in three days after each injection. I've been hell to live with. My family now stays away from me totally, not understanding, I guess. I am on 100mg of seroquel to help. My hemoglobin is low but don't know the numbers. I was given a shot of eprix from the extra they had on hand at the hospital until my prescription came in. The fatigue is terrible. Watching tv is getting tiresome. Same ole, same ole. Wasn't able to laugh. Any smile I might have even been close to, turned upside-down. Have a hard time getting into any novels but after a hard week last week, I started writing again last night. I believe I may have had a flu virus as well because my 18 year old son is sick also. That really did me in. I felt like I was dieing and was so afraid. I cried most of the time, just not being able to do anything but lay in bed. My dr mentioned they might give me a double dose of eprix to get me back on track. Anything, at this point. I'm close to telling them to shove the whole thing. If I could have just one day of mild energy might be okay. First time in a long time that I've even been on the computer. I keep praying, it goes fast.

Thanks everybody for your opinions and suggestions, I feel much better today (and I can't wait to take the interferon, strange! isn't it?).

According to the lab, 11 is the minimum and 16.5 is the maximum.
After the 6th shot, my hgb was 10.2 and they didn't reduce my dose or give me anything, they said it's not too low.

I'm sorry I didn't explain things clearly, I'm not at hospital, I just went their to take the Meds.

You should keep all your test results together and compare old ones with new ones.
I do this and I think I could control my levels and keep them from being low, maybe I'll post this in a separate post today if I could make it easy to read.

what to do about anger? i went through 11 months of treatment for hep c and it was so awful. the emotional part was the worst as i went through alot of aggresive fellings and anger. I am so greatful for forgiveness from my spouse, God, (forgiving myself was the hardest.) because of Gods grace i knew he had already forgiven me. Hope the people around you understand how these drugs effect you, and remember to forgive yourself, love yourself because god first loved us and because of the cross Gods grace has set us free from guilt

Some get depressed. Some get angry. I have always been the more depressive type; which is really just anger turned inward .

I did have one "riba rage." My son who has a kidney transplant and has had multiple heart surgeries, almost died of pneumonia during the course of my treatment. While they were testing him for every disease known to man, they "incidentally" found a lesion on his liver. I lost it on a liver surgeon. Think I scared him have to death! (Which is exactly what he had just done to my son; pay backs are hell)

Turns out the liver lesion is most likely a cyst, which is what all the other docs had been saying, and they will just watch it over time. My son does not have hep c. Thank God.

So I say find a really jerky doctor with the compassion of a slug and give him hell. Felt great to me! BTW most of my sons doctors are awesome.

I found out my hemoglobin was at 4. My husband had remembered. I am very fatigued. Right now I am getting two shots of 20 eprix weekly. I guess it wears off. I really haven't kept up with any paperwork for test results and haven't asked for them. Just wanted to get through this. Yes, I ask God to forgive me for what I'm putting my family through with the anger and rage. Hopefully, I can make it up to everyone after the tx is done. I am getting another blood test Wednesday and the following week I will know if the tx is working at 8 weeks. I'm taking interferon and ribravarin. I'm so glad to have this discussion group. I know I'm blowing the rules but sometimes its better to vent than keep it in. It helps knowing that I'm not alone when it comes to side effects. Thanks everyone. God bless.

Pharoah. Real interesting that your lab says HGB of 11 is normal. I'm looking at my Quest print out, and it shows normal as 13.2 to 17.1

Kookie, you know what? Mysteriously, these drugs aren't bothering me (I had very little sx) it's the hospital that's always bothering me, they tell me to go get this paper or sign that one from the manager, especially the lab results, but I try to forget bad memories as fast as I can.

And I also can control my temper and not show it to others. Thank God.

ladyrose, your HGB at 4? I think it's too low, or maybe this is your wbc.

joe, it seems strange to me too, I've searched the internet too much and found it close to what you say, but the doctor told me that I'm ok.
