Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Doing a trial is a huge risk, tx can be a huge risk as well and so can not doing anything.
I was very careful in choosing my trial. I would not do a trial in phase I that I had no information about.
As with everything else in life...luck is the single most important element imho.
the site clinicaltrials.gov lists all the trials. Type in hepatitis C and have a look. I spent a tremendous amount of time reading about trials. Currently some promising trials include Gilead's GS-7977 (aka Sofosbuvir) with and without Ribavirin and some interferon-free and Abbott trials are getting EXCELLENT preliminary results.
