and regarding your question if trials are safe- there was recently a BMS trial where a 26 yr old died and several ended up in hospital w/heart issues.

Doing a trial is a huge risk, tx can be a huge risk as well and so can not doing anything.

I was very careful in choosing my trial. I would not do a trial in phase I that I had no information about.

As with everything else in life...luck is the single most important element imho.

Thank you very much KatAnda, and all, its what i kind of expected to hear, still nice to hear personal experiences. I have heard horror stories about hepc and the drugs used to treat it. Hard decision to take on a slew of side effects when when we already have damage. Some drugs harm more than heal. Do you feel better after ridding yourself of hepc? I mean as far as more energy and so on? how many trials are available?

There are many trials. Most for those who haven't treated before (tx naive) but trials are now being conducted on prior null responders, cirrhotics and even pre and post transplant patients.

the site clinicaltrials.gov lists all the trials. Type in hepatitis C and have a look. I spent a tremendous amount of time reading about trials. Currently some promising trials include Gilead's GS-7977 (aka Sofosbuvir) with and without Ribavirin and some interferon-free and Abbott trials are getting EXCELLENT preliminary results.

Thank you so much for your kind response KatAnda. I will be looking into this much deeper. I have a hard time trusting doctors, and the drugs they so easy provide.there is so much to know, it is mind boggling. admitingly i dont understand much of it all
