Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Just a brief update on my status :
2nd time tx, 1st time partial resonder I am in my 16th week of triple therapy w/ victrelis... have been on procrit and neupogen since week 5 and still struggling with my RBC count being low...
I have cirrhosis, at 8 week VL was DET less than 43 and 12 week UND..
.When I saw my Hepatologist last week, I mentioned having pressure in my chest...he sent me tues. for a treadmill stress test resulting in a trip to the cardiologist today for consult...I had some changes in EKG during test , so he wants to do a catheterization Fri. to rule out any blockage...my platelets went from 43 on the 19th to 30 on the 26th, so they'll have to give me platelets before the procedure....
I do take blood pressure meds but have never before had any heart problems so I'm hoping this doesn't interupt my journey...
Any body else have any sides that affected their heart ?

I have no suggestions or advise; I'm just sorry you have to deal with this added aggravation.
I am not on procrite OR neupogen (i amsharp anemic) and let me promise you if someone made me take a stress test - I would be in intensive care - if I move to much i.e. walking up and down stars - walking long distances i.e. from my car to my desk - any exertion and I have to rest for a while till my heart stops pounding - I attribute it to low Rbc's and lack of oxygen - so I move slow and ride the electric carts at the grocery
Keep me posted - I don't want to ignore or discount any serious
issues either - but it does sound like your medical team is concerned about your overall health - I'm going to believe the best for you - No Fear
Before I began treatment the first time three years ago. There were some abnormalities with my EKG. Doc wanted a stress test and an ultra sound of my heart ( I had no previous heart issues ). I also was on BP meds. After these test, I was cleared to proceed with the treatment. After 48 weeks of Ribo/int. I was undetectable until my 6 month labs determined I had relapsed. I am on week 19 of triple therapy which I have been undetectable since week 2. My platelets have dipped to 30 twice but has rebounded to 43 and has remained there for 3 weeks. Doc had me back down on my shot to half dose one week and back up to full dose when it came back up 2 weeks later. Like dilly said " do what the Doc says "
I don't know if this helps other then knowing someone else had a similar situation.

I was supposed to get a cardiac catheterization but my insurance ran out... it is the Cadillac of all cardiac tests (my doctor's words).

where I'm going for my test,Methodist/IU Health Care, is about 10 blocks from the Super Bowl festivities....sure wish I were going downtown to party instead of lie in a bed...Oh well, not really...just looking forward to feeling better...love ya'll....Beth
so sorry you have to deal with heart problems on top of treatment. you'll be in my prayers.
i was put on procrit to boost up the rbc's while in treatment (around week 5) and my heart rate went from 78 to 126.
let us know how the tests turn out. my thoughts are with you....
