The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Has anyone taken any of the new drugs or old drugs and become SVR with Geno Type 1A TT? Just curious. My drugs should be cleared with my insurance tomorrow and I will start Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin soon. My geno type is 1A and it is TT, I just need to know that someone as cured with the same geno Type and the TT part. Is there anything I need to do before starting treatment?

Yes I am SVR and was 1a TT. Acute HCV infection and treated with 32 weeks of INF/RIBA. Never had chronic HCV i.e., infected more than 6 months so I got that tx.

Yes do something fun before tx!!

SOVALDI + RBV @ 24 weeks

In subjects with HCV genotype 1 infection, the SVR rate was 82% (74/90) in subjects with genotype 1a infection
and
54% (13/24) in subjects with genotype 1b infection, with relapse accounting for the majority of treatment failures.

SVR rates in subjects with HCV genotype 1 infection were 80% (24/30) in subjects with baseline IL28B C/C allele
and
75% (62/83) in subjects with baseline IL28B non-C/C alleles.

I am also 1a and about to start treatment. I believe I will have peg along with riba & sov. Just waiting on the call that insurance approved so I can not go in for training & file my fmla paperwork. Looks like there are a few of us about to treat!!

Good luck, Billy. I'll be seeing our doctor on the 22nd about what treatment to take. As you know, I'm also 1a-TT. I'm anxious to hear what he has to say . I'd also love to hear from other post-transplant patients like you and me with 1a-TT in regard to these new drugs. Please stay in touch as you do the treatment. Marilyn

I was 1a, TT. I tried regular tx twice before with no success. I've been SVR for over a year now after 48 wks with Incivik. I didn't have faith that the new drugs would work, but they did.
