Anyone do a trial of Sovaldi & Olysio 12 weeks

My question is has anyone done only 12 weeks of Sovaldi & Olysio in a trial or just tx? Need to know if you are svr or should I say undetectable after treatment or tx and still undetectable. My insurance won't pay for another 12 weeks of tx. I'm undetectable and have been since week 4 but I'm wondering by not completing the whole 24 weeks will the virus come back. Please help if possible. I'm Geno type 1a.

Hello Billy a few of us are on that combo right now. Warrior Gal is done and will get her first SVR4 test ina few weeks.
Study data has shown time and time again that neither doubling the duration from 12 to 24 weeks or adding Ribavirin to the mix has any impact on outcomes.
As you know it's very expensive so it's no wonder insurance companies will not cover an additional 12 weeks when it is not needed.

BTW good news on your SVR4. I am geno 1b cirrhotic and hoping for the same great news. These drugs are an awesome combo!

Sorry you are having insurance hassles...

I am 1B and I have completed 12 weeks S & O undetected. Waiting another 3 weeks for the 4 week post test to call it SVR.

All you can do is hope and pray - which i know you excel in! :-) And, in the event you relapse, in 6 mos you would be eligible for Ledapsivir (sp?).

12 weeks is the standard S&O tx protocol.

I am Geno 1a I finished S & O treatment and will get my viral load checked on April 28th. Will post my results as soon as I get them. Good luck to you.

It's going to be hard to find many who have completed this TX as I was one of the very first to start after was available. i started in Jan. And I don't know if there is anyone here on DS who was in the trial, but we of course know those results.

12 weeks is sufficient and how it was designed to be done. in fact they are testing many new txs in 8 week trials!

Since you cleared at 4 weeks I belive the bugs are gone. That means 8 weeks if bombardment if anything survives these bunker buster med I'll be really supprised. There are people out there who couldn't finish the 12 weeks and they are still svr. Peace

Billy, I think it depends on what stage you're at and what, if any txs you've already received. For myself, I have cirrhosis and have failed multiple tx regimens (I did become undectable on the incivek/interferon/riba tx but it promptly came back within a month at end of tx) so I know my MD wants me to take it for 24 weeks (which will require him really stepping into Express Scripts). Also he has added on the riba (which I am hating). Also do you know, do you have something called Q80K polymorphism? This results in less positive response to tx. But people are right there doesn't seem to be much statistical difference between 12 and 24 weeks (the COSMOS study had both arms) so therefore on that basis it would seem like you're in good shape.
