what type do you have? Can you try the next tx? supposed to be more successful?

I'm so sorry....it's stories like yours that keep me from going into tx.

Good morning all. I put a call into the clinic yesterday and am waiting to hear back as to an appnt to discuss my options. I'm geno 2b and at stage 4 cirrhosis. I don't know the grade but only the heard the words "stage four". So that's where I'm at and will post a new thread when I/we figure figure out what I do next. Thank you all for the support. AND SandyDo. Please do not avoid tx just because of my story. I'm going to do it again.

a word of encouragement that you probably already know. Stage 4 can go on for many years and does not preclude you from trying treatment again. Actually it is recommended to continue with treatment when one is cirrhotic.

I am truly bummed out by this news, it just sucks! I can't beleive what a good attitude you seem to have about it though. Stay strong & keep on fighting!

I have a friend who is 2b going on the 2nd time around, using the new tx. She will have to do 12 weeks on Incivik, riba and interferon, and then 12 weeks of only riba, and interferon.

I have heard of many geno 2's failing tx. I thought we were the easy to treat! :( :(

Sorry but new stuff coming down the pike. I am waiting on the new.

soc fails too many people. i hope the future entails much higher svr results. interferon just didnt work for me. i dont have the guts to do that fight again i dont think.. it takes a toll..

Thanx so much guys, the words go a long way for me. Thank you. I talked to the clinic today...well sort of. They called to tell me Janice was on vacation till Aug 2nd and made an appnt for the 3rd. Not to worried right now,,,maybe later but all good for now. Thank you again, it feels great knowing that so many people care.

Oh and to answer some of the questions. Yes geno 2b. I did 24 weeks Peg/riba. Adjusted the riba from 1200 mg down to 1000 mg because of the sx. Took the riba off of the 12/12 schedule as per docs recommendation and took it on a ten hour schedule for the first 16 wks then went back on the 12/12 hr at the lower dose of 1000 mg. That is probably why the relapse. I own it. I should have stuck to the program or just not done it at all. Also I just couldn't give up the steaks and other meats, I just love em to much but then, so does the dragon. I hope this answers some of the questions and helps ease some of the fears of those THINKING about tx. Hell it wasn't bad enough not to do it again. I just need to figure out which one to do..'sall good.

Aww, that sucks! I'm so sorry. So many who were on tx with us are relapsing. You've got a great attitude though! You'll be ok...BIG HUGS!

I had my 3 mo labs drawn last week...still waiting on the results. I'm trying not to think about it but it's not working. I'm really worried! I don't think I'd take it as well as you are if I relapse. Wish me luck!

napaguy makes a good point. some things require risk. its all about the present condition of your liver whether waiting is the best choice. those who can afford to wait on better meds may be doing themselves a favor.. its up to the biopsy i s'pose..

Thanks Capn....the new treatments are sounding more and more promising. I'm not sure about protocol as it pertains to cirrhosis, but I'm definitely not ruling it completely out.
