early 20ies....but it was fun!

True, early 20's were fun. Ironic isn't it that I was most likely infected by a needlestick at work in 82. Karma maybe? Funny too that I'll be going to a hepatologist at the same medical center where I worked so long ago. I remember the night I got stuck - the patient was in the ICU and very ill with hepatitis. I had to go down to the ER in the morning and get a gammaglobulin shot after work. My records are still there!

Let's see, early twenties for me when I was tattooing and piercing up a storm.

Late teens, early twenties...... but never used needles. The ex did, and I was always his right-hand man!! Took care of all the times a hammer was dropped on his head or the door fell off and gave him a concussion, or........ any blood, I cleaned it and wrapped it. Unfortunately, I was as big of a clutz as he was!!! But I was up on those roofs right there with him!!!
Those were the days................

oh just great lauretta. body piercings. ill be fantacizing for days on that shit. probly be my fantasy about rescuing some chick from pirates to find the ship storerooms packed with opium and hash,and of course huge chests full of labia jewelry.. the pirates all get shot in the throat fyi.. this is why i cant sleep. overactive imagination.. then jake and i make bongs out of their old weapons and possibly a femur for shock value..

1972 was my Year of the Dragon. Almost died then of what they called non-A, non-B, Spent 2 wks in hospital. Didn't put it all together until recently even though I was dx'd in '98. Duh!!!!

What is so sad today is that young ones, for the most part, have NO IDEA the risks they're running w/ piercing. Even just ears! WHERE ARE THE PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS???? I'm not saying that there aren't many very responsible professionals out there who take all the proper precautions but that's not who many of these kids are getting t do their piercings and tattoos!! I take exception that several of you assume we all got hep c from drug use. I have never done drugs, nor will I. I got my hep from blood transfusions in 1984. I know it doesn't make any difference how we got hep c , we are all dealing with the treatments and side effects. I wish all of you luck in your treatments.

well hoosier gal , drugs are indeed a scourge but still a very vivid reality in humanity and consequently great fodder for humor.. who doesnt like a good crackhead joke ?? drugs are not a 1960,s american invention. drug trade routes put many eastern and mideastern cities on the map. hong kong was lost to the brits in fierce opium trade wars. the heroin still flows to europe and africa and the british are still quite in control of the financing and profits.

I could have gotten it so many ways in my life it's rediculous. I think I got it from the dentist. It doesn't matter though, worrying about that is a waste of time and energy. I got it. I did the 48 weeks. It came back. I'm still alive at 62. That's a miracle.

I hate it when medical professionals ask, and how did contract it?? No one asks that question re: pneumonia, or the flu or any other contagious disease. And there are many, many of us who truly do not know how they contracted it!!! I've wanted to say, " i think I caught it off a toilet on Capitol Hill. LOL
