we reviewied your request for harvoni tablet under your plan as we informed your dr we are unable to approve this request for thefollowing reasons -according to the prescribing physician the patient has not documented as having hepatic fibrosis score correlating with metavir stage f3 or f4 or the patient does not have severe extrahepatic manifestations type 2 or 3 essential mixed cryoglobulinemia with end organ manifestations or has proteinuria ,nephotic syndrome or membranoprolifertive glomerular nephris or patient is not high risk of transmitting hcv on long term hemodialysis or a health care worker whose daily activities put them in contact with blood and or needles you may appeal this decision within 180 day ya think I won't buttholes oh well I knew if you are too well they won't approve they want my liver to go bad first how flippin crazy is that sorry needed to vent yes I will appeal and yes I have time becuz I am not super sick or I should say my liver isn't yet
Right now, the battle over cost is causing them to triage.
Its a temporary situation.
Meanwhile, keep fighting for it. Do all the persistent phone calls, emails, letters. Go for patient assistance programs.

Shortening treatment durations
Achillion is working on an adjunct therapy, ACH-3102, that can be used alongside Sovaldi to limit treatment to eight weeks or less.
During a small phase 2 trial, Achillion reported that combining ACH-3102 and Sovaldi cleared the disease in 100% of patients who received the drugs for eight weeks. That matches up nicely against Gilead's Harvoni.

It bears repeating that Support Path at Gilead Sciences in the U.S. advised me that if you make less than $100,000 annually & your ins. denies coverage plus your ins. also denies your doc's appeal then Gilead will send you Harvoni for free. If you are underinsured there are programs available to offset costs & co-pays that they can help you with. It is a resource people need to use in addition to working with the doc, insurer & pharmacy.
The prices will come down, treatment will become available, you will get access and rid yourself of HCV.
As a non responder with cirrhosis I had to wait four years before I finally got access to these new drugs which worked for me. Even with cirrhosis, I probably could have hung on a few more years but I am glad I didn't have to.

NEVER give up, took me once 2 years to find the "right ear" of a sympathic person that approved a $10,000.00 procedure bill that was hanging over my head for 2 years.....Everyone else denied it.
You can't stop trying.
