I was denied twice by my insurance that I'd had for 23 years until the 3rd appeal. Don't give up hope! There are new meds and insurance will eventually pay for one kind or another. Your doctor will find a way to get you on a medication....

I recommend you have your doc appeal. Also, please call Support Path at Gilead. You'll find the number on Gilead's website. I was told if your insurance denies coverage for Solvadi or Harvoni & also denies the appeal then you qualify to receive the meds from Gilead at no cost. You will need to file an application that support path will send you. They sent one to me but my ins. covered it. Don't give up. Advocate for yourself. It's that important.

Does that Obama Care plan also include death panels?

I would suggest you read the link hepcme posted about the stalling strategy payers are using. It's not all bad news and might ease your concerns.

Thanks, everyone. I will ask doc to appeal. And thanks for the prayers, Marilyn. Cono, I don't know about Death Panels. I believe that, overall, Obamacare is a good thing. My insurance co. used to deny my husband meds all the time before Obamacare. So do the insurance co's that my clients use. They are just using the new law as an excuse to be greedier.

Brigid - I am so sorry to hear this and I too will keep you in my prayers. They can work miracles...

It is so very frustrating and to try to put your mind elsewhere while you wait on the appeal......Just remember this is : out of your hands and you have no control (except for the appeal first).

Try and not stress out (easy for me to say) as stressing won't change anything......I just know in my heart eventually we all will have the meds needed - even if they are generic, but no one wants to wait that long!!

I also had an appeal on something different that took me 3 years to pay a $10,000 bill on a medical surgery they called experimental as an excuse to not pay.....FINALLY they gave in and paid it as I did not give up! All it really took was prayer and the "right person" to get my call and pleas.....She had just gone thru something similar that her own Mother went thru, so you never know....(she over-rode the thing blocking payment) Otherwise I might still be waiting.....Pray...it works....

Do this mean if I pay for Harvoni upfront (mortage my house??) that eventually when it is covered by public healthcare, they will repay me?
