I had Cajun food. Watched husband eat raw oysters. Yuck.

In the south, it's a long standing tradition to have blackeye peas (the dry ones that you soak overnight) with ham or sausage and corn bread on New Years Day. Some people also have cooked cabbage. I'm not doing cabbage today, but my peas are cooking.

Why, fresh black eye peas and collard greens, of course! Peas represent coins, greens as paper money, and cornbread is gold. It's a huge tradition as MLT posted.

I went out with friends for lunch, then we went BOWLING! 14 of us! I had chicken quesadillas and a big salad for dinner. Today???? probably left over turkey. and roasted beets, turnips, & sweet potatoes.

Had to pick dtr up from party last night @2:30am. Got f@!#!ng lost, using her GPS, that I never used before... finally got the thing to work. I think it purposely messes w/new people first for a while. Got to bed around 4!!! And I didn't even party!

Worked straight thru a double yesterday.. Only had a cup of soup..

How interesting! I never heard of any traditional New Years food before....and also thought cabbage was traditional for St Pat's day.

Aw, msart, I know how you feel. But keep going back to where you think he got out& calling him. I had a cat missing for almost 2 wks once, and he found his way back to the motel I was staying at. He, my dog, & I were walking at the beach, and he suddenly got freaked out & ran under the boardwalk. It was off season, so there weren't many people around. Eventually I went back to the motel.We had driven a few blocks to the beach. I moved out of the motel & into an apt, but meanwhile my sister moved to the motel, her room was on the opposite side of the courtyard, and heard the cat crying outside her door! He not only found his way back, but remembered the smell of her I guess, and sat by her door & meowed. I couldn't have been more surprised & happy when she called me.
