Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

There have been several posts recently of folks just starting TX. I was remembering my first shot. Boy, was I scared! I was doing my best to look like I had things under control, but truthfully, I was scared. But...I had help! Having joined DS before I started Tx, I felt..well...almost ready. The first shot was no where near as eventful as was possible. Of course, all the sides have manifested over time, I have lost weight...brain fog...hair loss...but..none of it has caught me by surprise because of DS.
That makes it so much easier!
To the folks just starting TX...you can do it! Be sure to ask questions and read the posts here. It really does help. And to those who have helped me...Thank you!

I have noticed there are a lot of new DS members who have recently started their treatment so I would like to add that I'm in week 42 of 48 of my treatment and I agree with Rob that DS is a great place for support and information. I am still working full time while on treatment and, truly, I don't think I would have been able to if it wasn't for the help (both support and information) that I got from this site.
So, to all the new DS members out there...stick around and keep asking questions. We all have been where you are now and we all have asked a lot of questions and that's how we get through it.
I'm approaching shot #6, 42 to go.
Hope you'll be around some when you are done for the rest of us.
Way to go... I have just joined and you have already been a source of inspiration. My own pastor lost his son recently to Cancer and I feel like leaning on him too much right now is not fair. I feel guilty when I complain about my daughters diagnosis when his son is gone.... I am sure he would rather have his son here with this disease, then gone with cancer. Anyway, so nice to have so many strong christians in the bunch.
