You may want to seek a new doctor. If your Hep B is active you need treatment. You also need a liver biopsy to see how much damage your liver is. I don't know about herbal medicines. What are they giving you "milk thistles" ? The gas is maybe something your eating. Some of the symptom from Hep B slowing start from itching to having change of color from your eyes to skins.

I agree with your doctor. You are stable and it may not be worthwhile swallowing the headaches of resistance, cost, toxins, side effects, etc. that comes with antiviral treatments.

thank you for your replies ... i have consulted a few doctors and they have given the same reply that i do not need anti viral treatment . the doctor also said that a biopsy will be done after the age of 40 .... and since the liver enzymes are not very high so nothing has to be done at this time .. but they also say that 99% i will have to take treatement in future .... i am confused ...

Totog, I'm confuse with your diagnose by your Doctor to wait till your 40. What happen if your Hep B is active at any time. It can cause more damage as you age. Your Hep B should be suppress none active/ none detected, but you still have the virus. Have you ever had a liver biopsy before.

When I was first detected with Hep B; the doctor did everything from Blood Lab, Biopsy, Interferon, Medication. They did not waste any time on me. My next doctor visit is in May. I'll let you guys know what the doctor say. I'm sure it will be the same for these last few years. Do what your normal daily thing and keep it up.

I was tested when I was about 18/19 yrs old, I am 35 now. A biopsy is done in a day, in morning time and out in the afternoon. What they do is take a sample of your liver by sticking a needle or something sharp into your rib cage. The procedure is very fast, but they drug you up real good and keep you awake and monitor you to make sure you don't bleed. After that you sleep on your right side for about 3 to 4 hrs and off you go.

I had hep=b and hep A when I was 19 it put me in a coma for 45dys very high enzymes and yellow jaundice i beat it though and as a result now have hep c it took me 30yrs to finally get a biopsy cuz i have high c enzymes and it hurt like hell do not let anyone tell you it don't they only localize it through your abdomen no sedation,its xylacaine it does not make you comfortable it puts shocks of stinging deblitating stabbing feeling through your body and numbs your diaphram and chest muscles and heart,felt like frigin bricks on my chest couldn'T breath!!! i hve 0-1 stage of fibrosis and not so bad for all those years of no treatment and living with this disease!! B can be a killer you can beat it and turn it into negative change your diet Gas I get from gastritis and duodenitis & that is caused from hepatitis. all the gasey foods they say don't eat they told me too! I smoke and that has to stop,your dr might be looking out for you because a genotype has to be established and there needs to be test done to cure that b.!

Candycane, A Biopsy does hurt. But when was the last time you had it done. I had my first one done when I was young and it did hurt like someone punch me in the stomach real hard. I was afraid to go through it again after 10yrs, so I delay it for extra 2/3 yrs. This was the same Doctor that did the procedure the first time and did it again the second time. I was so nervous that my blood pressure/heart beat was up to the roof. But the second time wasn't so bad, just a little sting on the side and it was over. Didn't feel like no one punch me at all and I was up most of the time. The only thing that was different I think was that she had a little ultra sound machine to scan through my rib cage. The first time she basically just tap tap on my rib.

Anyway, the pain of getting a biopsy is small compare to the pain that your liver is damage which may cause you more pain down the road. So I would just do the biopsy and know what my result is and be able to go on treatment.
