Hello everybody,

Well the day has come. I finally had my Doctor visit at NIH today and am now under a new study. Well basically the study is getting off Epivir "Lamivudine". I had to sign a few paper, gave some extra blood work and starting tomorrow I will no longer be taking that medication. I was told the study has been going on for 2 years now and that I am the 14 patient. I ask a few questions and out of 13 they say only 5 had to be put back on treatment, which is Viread. I will be on Viread too if my virus become positive again. I am being monitor once a month for the first 6 month, then if everything goes well it will be every 3 month visit, and after that every 6 month and if all goes well I will visit once a year. But that's way down the road which I pray that will happen. Again, I feel great and am feeling happy.

willie, I believe you should be ok; I'm sure your ultrasound will show a bit scar here and there. The main thing is if the virus is active just get help by being on treatment to keep it under control.

I guess I've been away from this site and haven't come in much. I had my last visit back in Jan 2015 I believe and same thing; everything is ok as the Doctor was happy with my result. I've been off treatment over a year and a few months now. My Doctor believe at this point I am in good shape with the virus not coming back. But we still need to give it some more time as this is like a 3 to 4 year study that I am on. The longer we go and my virus isn't active, the better for me. But my next visit is mid April 2015.

willie, if the Doctors really want to know whats your liver is, they will do a biopsy. But if they are doing a ultrasound then it seem like they aren't too worry and you should be fine.

Ok folks, sorry I haven't posted on my visit back in April & July. Those result came out to be fine as the rest of the other result from before. My next visit will be in late Sept 2015. My Doctor is saying as we move forward and my virus is still doormat, he's stating that I have a very good chance right now that the virus will not return. But I have about two more year left under this study. So for who ever is out there with the virus, just keep positive and fight.

My Doctor visit today came out to be great like usual. I spoke with the nurse before I saw the Doctor and was telling her that I have about 8/9 more visit left from this study. So basically I have like two year left which my last visit will be sometime in the summer of 2017. On with seeing the Doctor. Not much really happen, just look over my blood result and everything seem great like usual. My Doctor just basically tell me to keep up to what I'm doing and be back in 3 months. So my next visit will be near the end of Dec.

Hi Neko, the trial you are on sounds promising. Are you on a certain diet? Or staying away from certain drinks or food? I have an appointment with a new liver specialist in Dec. (new health ins). I'm not on any medication right now, but just got a call from my new primary care that my lab results says active. I'm concerned, but glad I came across your post.

Mykid2, I'm just living a normal life right now. Not on any special diet, but I do workout and trying to stay healthy. I was able to get off treatment is because I was on it for such a long time that my virus is in a doormat stage. So the Doctor believe I can get off treatment and the virus hasn't been active since. I'm going on two years now off treatment, so the last time I spoke to my Doc he said everything is looking great at this point. I have about another year and half left on this study being off treatment.
