Hemorrhoids are the swelling and inflammation of veins in the rectum and anus. Two of the most common types of hemorrhoids are external and internal hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids are those that occur outside of the anal verge (the distal end of the anal canal). They are sometimes painful, and can be accompanied by swelling and irritation.
Had my hemorrhoid banding today - I want folks to know that it is NOT as bad as the many posts I have read over the past several weeks. The procedure itself was virtually pain free. It's been about 7 hours and I feel discomfort - more like an ache - but again not as bad as I had anticipated. I was given Tylenol w/Codeine but so far I'm just taking regular Tylenol. I'm supposed to take sitz baths 3-4 times a day. I hope things go along smoothly the next couple of days.

An updated - 2nd day. More discomfort through the evening and into the night. Doing several baths and took the Tylenol w/Codeine - but Advil works BEST. Worried about going to the bathroom this morning but the pain is a bit less this morning.

i had this done the other day it was as you say not to bad had a dull ache over the last few days.

Well it's been a week now and things are better I guess but now I find out that I have an external hemorroid - and I wish she had told me that when I saw her for the banding. I kept wondering what that thing was! So I guess I'll have to live with it.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
