Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
SO my plan is to wait till I am over 70 and then phleb at the red cross.
As far as symptoms, I am one of the lucky ones and have never been symptomatic. The only issue that has seemed to improve is my gout attacks have not occurred, I am still on Gout medicine because my uric acid numbers are on the high side, but when I do have a flare up it is very manageable.
