Hemochromatosis Support Group

Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

just got my latest labs back
ferratin was 840 in 9-2010, now is 28
ti-60, was -150
ts-19%, was-50%
tibc-319, was-300
I hope to hear about a maint. phlebbing soon!!
I'm a happy monkey.. got a bannana??

THANKS EVERYBODYS. MY DOC HASN'T EVEN MENTIONED MAINTENANCE PHLEBS YET OR REDUCING THE AMOUNT. I AM AT EVERY OTHER WEEK. I THINK I MAY JUST MISS ONE OR TWO. I AM TRYING TO FIND A NEW DOC...

I am so very happy for you my dear monkey friend!!! Isn't it a great feeling?!?!?!?! I couldn't believe it when then cancelled my last phelb and then found out the next day that my ferritin was down to 19!!! I go back on the 26th for labs again (and possibly a phleb) and then I see the doctor again on the 31st. I am hoping that he will put me on a maintenance schedule!! I am SO happy for you!!!!
