Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

Though I think you will also have to make sure you eat a "clean" diet and do some exercise (I assume the people in this study had already adopted a healthy lifestyle as they were "unresponsive to lifestyle changes" already, though I don't have access to the full study). Reduce all sources of fat in particular "fructose" (I now believe it's far worse than actual fat) so no carbonated drinks, high sugar snacks/foods etc.

I do have HH and had high liver enzymes when first dx, took milk thistle also, my liver was full of iron 4+ with the liver biopsy, and now my liver is good..
Now I'm getting chelation therapy to get the other metals out of my body, that's going to take a few months. Aluminum toxicity (from lifelong deodorant use), mercury (from teeth fillings) and others from industrial work will be removed, hopefully in recovering more.
If you have HH, your ferritin is too high. My doctor's cutoff is 50. Get your ferritin down and see what happens with the fatty liver.
What's your current ferritin level?

It is my guess that as you unload the iron the organ will gradually increase in function etc. In Chinese medicine, I believe they sometimes refer to the liver as the "Heroic Organ."
Reducing your fat intake and exercise can only help you, no matter what.
